Undergraduate course: Ecology

We teach Ecology II to the undergraduate course in Biological Sciences at USP (since 2010). This course focuses on ecological and evolutionary processes shaping biodiversity. I teach the first section of the course that explores how biodiversity is shaped by processes operating in short timescales. My friend Tiago Quental teaches the second section on biodiversity being shaped by macroevolutionary processes.

Graduate courses

Over the years I have been teaching different courses to the graduate students of the Ecology Graduate Program at USP, such as structure and dynamics of ecological networks, community ecology, and ecosystems as complex systems (here: the class material of a course I teach with my friend Marcus A. M. de Aguiar several years ago at the Physics Institute, Unicamp).

Fritz Müller Seminar Series

The Fritz Muller Seminar Series is a set of talks performed by leading scientists exploring how evolution shapes biological diversity at different levels of organization. The seminar series is named after the famous naturalist Fritz Muller. The aims of this seminar series reflects the legacy of Fritz Muller:

(1) to integrate empirical and theoretical research,

(2) to combine different aspects of biological sciences, such as ecology, to understand evolution,

(3) to promote science as a truly international enterprise,

(4) to promote the amazement for nature among students.
